Charel & Mich

Ilkley Manor Houses is managed by Charel and Mich.  They are waiting to welcome you to our stunning lodge. 

Charel started his guiding career running mobile safaris in 2006. Mich joined the company in 2009 and they have been working as a team in the safari industry ever since. They moved to the Lowveld in 2012, where they continued to share their passion, operating small and intimate game lodges in the Greater Kruger National Park.

Having travelled Southern Africa extensively, they have many stories to tell. Both natural hosts, Mich and Charel enjoy spending time with guests, creating memorable moments and sharing their experiences, knowledge and love for the bush. 

When not at the lodge, Mich, Charel and trusted canine companion, Ziggy, explore as much as they can - Usually with their backpacks, a bird book and binoculars in hand. They love experiencing new cultures, sights and sounds around the world although both agree that nothing quite beats waking up to an elephant on your doorstep or hearing a whooping hyena while sitting around a fire in the African bush.
